We are pleased to announce our year end results for September 2023

We are pleased to announce our full year results for the year ended 30 September 2023. Our order book increased to £31.6 million, up on the prior year, whilst our revenue performance was moderately ahead at £21.7 million.

During the year we completed the acquisition from Amphenol Ltd of their complete railway inter-car connector range, whilst post-year end, we were delighted to have completed on the acquisition of Red Box International, which gives us an excellent range of DC ground power equipment, plus a foothold into the US aerospace market which we will look to leverage our other product lines through.

We continue to deliver against market expectations and, underpinned by a strong order book, look ahead to FY24 and beyond with confidence.

Acquisition of Red Box International 

We are delighted to announce that LPA Connection Systems has acquired Red Box International.

Red Box is a leading UK manufacturer and distributor of small ground power equipment for the general aviation market and sell their products directly to the market and through a network of distributors.

With global reach and an established presence in the USA market, this acquisition supports our long term growth strategy in the aviation market.

Appointment of Non-Executive Director

LPA are pleased to announce the appointment of Andrew Jenner as Non-Executive Director, who will be joining the Board from 1 September 20201.

Andrew is an experienced CFO and NED having held senior positions in a number of FTSE100, 250 and privately held companies and has worked in different sectors including manufacturing, services, engineering, rail and construction.

LPA Lighting Systems significant project award with Siemens Mobility

LPA are pleased to announce a significant project award with Siemens Mobility (subject to contract) for the UK rail market. LPA is supplying the entire interior lighting system for 94 Inspiro trains, totalling 846 cars, for the Piccadilly line.

The LED system will include all ceiling lighting, status lights to indicate when doors are opening and closing, step lights to highlight door thresholds, and the drivers’ cab lighting.

In total, LPA will produce 35,344 separate lights, which would stretch more than 20 kilometres if lined up end to end.

With lighting such a crucial element of passenger experience, Siemens Mobility needed to be able to rely on a trusted supplier and LPA fits the bill perfectly.

LPA has also worked with Transport for London (TfL) for more than 30 years and understands its stringent lighting requirements and technical specifications.

Robin Capel-Dunn, Sales Director at LPA Lighting Systems, said: “Our relationship with Siemens Mobility has gone from strength to strength over the years. There’s a real trust between the two companies.

“We are providing Siemens with a completely bespoke lighting system. Passengers will experience a brighter, cleaner and more relaxed environment through a mixture of direct and indirect lighting.

“This is a fantastically exciting project and we are delighted to be playing our part.”

LPA Lighting Systems secure new project win with Grammer AG

LPA Lighting Systems are pleased to announce the award of a significant project, subject to contract, to design and manufacture advanced ‘at seat’ electronics system solution for Grammer AG, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of seating systems.

The award to supply seat automation, control, diagnostics, lighting and power electronics, is for the Avelia Horizon high speed next generation TGV trains, being built by Alstom, for the French rail operator SNCF.

The seating system incorporates LPA’s innovative electronics technology within the seat, and brings market leading design, ergonomics and condition monitoring to the rail market. The initial award for 50 double decker train sets includes an option for an additional 50 train sets. Supply is scheduled to commence late 2021 to 2026.

LPA Lighting Systems look forward to working with Grammer AG to convert the prestigious contract into an industry leading rail compliant electronics system.

New Contract Awards

LPA are pleased to announce further contract wins for both UK and export rail markets.

Totalling £3.3M, these individual awards into the rail sector include electro-mechanical assemblies into the UK, an LED lighting contract for the Australian rail market and an electro-mechanical jumper order for the UK rail market.

NEW CEO and Non-Executive Director for LPA Group

We are pleased to announce that Paul Curtis, our COO has been appointed as LPA’s CEO, effective from 1 April 2020.

Having worked in key roles across the LPA Group, Paul has a unique understanding of the business and the markets we work in.

To further strengthen the LPA Board of Directors, we are also pleased to announce that Gordon Wakeford has joined us as a Non-Executive Director, also from the 1 April 2020.

Gordon recently retired as CEO of Siemens Mobility UK and as a former Chairman of the Railway Industry Association he has significant experience in the rail sector.

COVID-19 Update April ’20

During these challenging times LPA remains open and committed to supporting the supply chain in key areas such as rail and aviation.

Flexible working has been introduced to accommodate childcare and where practical staff are working from home. Staff segregation and self-isolation precautions are also in place.

LPA Lighting Systems selected by Siemens Mobility

LPA Lighting Systems, a world leading rolling stock LED lighting designer and manufacturer, is delighted to announce that we have been selected by Siemens Mobility for the design and manufacture of interior LED Smart Lighting in their ÖBB long distance trains. This project includes 8 nine-car train sets for daytime traffic and 13 seven-car train sets for night traffic, including options of up to 700 cars. The trains will be operating across Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. The lighting system specified is one of the most ambitious in the rail industry, with high end innovative smart lighting features and RGB LEDs. We are very excited to be working with Siemens once again to convert this ambitious specification into an industry leading rail compliant lighting system. Design, test and manufacture will be done at LPA’s state of the art UK manufacturing facility, with first delivery anticipated in August 2020.
